hospitality. Just a few steps from Teatro alla Scala, behind the austere grey-granite façade of a rationalist building, lies one of Milan’s newest hospitality gems: Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel, reimagined through the visionary lens of Patricia Urquiola. Managed by Marriott International and overlooking Piazzetta Bossi, the project is rooted in a careful conservation effort aimed at preserving the architectural essence of the original building designed by Pietro Lingeri in the 1950s.
Inside, Urquiola’s contemporary elegance harmonizes with the building’s rationalist heritage. Materials such as Fior di Pesco marble, warm wood and textured glass define refined interiors that evoke a distinctly Milanese atmosphere. Each space is crafted with a bespoke sensibility, balancing historical identity with modern comfort.
Among the most intimate and striking spaces are the bathrooms, where the Lariana bathtub — designed by Urquiola for Agape — takes center stage. Its sculptural lines and soft, architectural presence reflect Casa Brera’s layered nature: modern yet respectful of tradition, bold yet welcoming. Every detail — from precious Italian marbles to the tub’s fluid, enveloping form — invites guests to slow down, relax and immerse themselves in a personal Milanese dreamscape where design, art and architecture converge.
With 101 rooms, 15 suites — some featuring panoramic terraces — and amenities such as a rooftop pool, lounge and restaurants, Casa Brera offers a complete experience celebrating design culture and contemporary hospitality in one of Milan’s most historic and vibrant districts.
